Singapore Science is a curriculum and teaching methodology developed by the Ministry of Education of Singapore. Since its adoption, Singapore students have been demonstrating the highest scores in Science literacy in the world.

Science Curriculum Framework

The Singapore Science Curriculum Framework is structured around the spirit and practices of scientific inquiry and defines three integral domains essential to the practice of science: knowledge, understanding, and application; skills and processes; and ethics and attitudes. The curriculum enables students to appreciate the pursuit of science as meaningful and useful, as it is grounded in knowledge, issues, and questions that relate to the role of science in daily life, society, and the environment.

Hands-on, Inquiry-based Approach

Singapore Science is an interactive and “hands-on” method of teaching, devised to stimulate students’ natural curiosity and cultivate their spirit of inquiry. In Singapore Science, students conduct teacher-facilitated inquiries to learn key concepts, incorporating live experiments, real world examples and active discussion.

Language Literacy

Singapore Science methodology emphasizes the importance of English as a global language. Learning Science in English allows students to become proficient in scientific terminology and prepare them for international admissions exams. Science lessons provide an ideal context for the development of language literacy because they require students to read, write, listen, and speak about scientific concepts and the world around them.
