Mathematics

Singapore Math is a curriculum and teaching methodology developed by the Ministry of Education of Singapore. Since its adoption, Singapore students have been demonstrating the highest scores in Mathematical literacy in the world.

Singapore Math Framework

Singapore Math is a comprehensive framework for developing higher order thinking skills required for complex problem solving. Students' understanding does not stay on the whiteboard, and can be translated to solve complex problems requiring the development of all five components of the framework.

CPA Approach

The CPA approach builds on children’s existing knowledge by introducing abstract concepts in a concrete and tangible way. It involves moving from concrete materials, to pictorial representations, to abstract symbols and problems. This method helps students build a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and facilitates problem-solving skills.

Bar Modeling

Bar modeling is a powerful visualization technique for solving word problems. It involves breaking down the problem into smaller parts and using rectangular bars to represent quantities. This method enables students to visualize relationships between numbers and encourages critical thinking.

21st Century Competencies

In Singapore Math lessons students regularly work in pairs and groups, providing opportunities to develop 21st Century Competencies such as Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, and Critical thinking. These skills are essential not only for success in Math but also for navigating the challenges of the modern world and preparing students to be effective global citizens.
